Horse Safety is
a prime concern with the 6th Ohio, often above our own safety. We choose
to be in this hobby and so we choose to take the inherent risks. Our faithful
mounts deserve to be protected as much as possible from harm.
- All mounts must
be in good health.
- All mounts must
be properly shod for the event terrain.
- Nighttime Battles
are rarely done mounted and only at the walk if done so.
- Proper vaccinations
and tests must be done before events.
- Horse are monitored
during events to prevent dehydration.
- Proper saddle
fit is required for short battles as well as long campaigns.
- Terrain and
Weather determine the aggressiveness of fighting.
- Trailer safety
is required for getting our mounts safely to and from events.
